It appears the popular messaging service platform, WhatsApp has been hit by a serious technical hiccup, which has resulted in a total shutdown of the service worldwide.
The service which went off on Wednesday night, initially appeared to many Ghanaian users as the usual network failure on the part of local internet service providers, until they realized that other internet based services like Facebook and Twitter were working perfectly.
Many users in a bid to to get the Whatsapp service restored also reboot their mobile phones many times but to no avail.
This has compelled them to resort to other social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter to share their frustrations about the blackout of the instant messaging service, which has about 1.2 billion monthly users globally.
Interestingly, Ghanaians in the midst of the WhatsApp agony, were also hit by what appeared to be a nationwide power outage, resulting in a double douse of lamentations for many on social media.
